Strasys Limited is committed to making our website accessible to as many people as possible, regardless of ability or technology. We believe that access to information about healthcare decision-making should not be limited by how someone interacts with the web.
1. Our accessibility standard
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. These guidelines are published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) and are the internationally recognised standard for web accessibility.
WCAG 2.1 AA covers four principles. Content should be:
- Perceivable. Information and interface elements must be presented in ways that users can perceive, including through assistive technologies such as screen readers.
- Operable. Navigation and interactive elements must be usable with a keyboard, and users must have enough time to read and use content.
- Understandable. Text must be readable and predictable, and input assistance should be provided where needed.
- Robust. Content must be compatible with a range of user agents and assistive technologies, now and in the future.
2. What we are doing
We are working to ensure that our website meets WCAG 2.1 AA. Steps we have taken include:
- Using semantic HTML throughout the site, including appropriate heading hierarchy, landmark regions, and ARIA labels where needed.
- Ensuring sufficient colour contrast between text and background elements in line with our brand design system.
- Providing text alternatives for non-text content, including images and icons.
- Designing navigation that works with keyboard-only interaction.
- Using clear, readable typography with appropriate font sizes and line spacing.
- Testing pages with assistive technologies during development.
3. Known limitations
While we strive for full conformance, we recognise that some areas of the site may not yet meet every WCAG 2.1 AA criterion. Known limitations may include:
- Some older content or embedded third-party elements (such as video players or forms provided by external services) may not be fully accessible.
- Some PDF documents may not be fully screen-reader compatible. Where possible, we provide the same information in accessible HTML format.
- Interactive data visualisations within our analytics product descriptions may have limited accessibility for screen reader users. We are working to improve these.
We are committed to addressing these limitations progressively as we continue to improve the site.
4. Feedback and reporting issues
We welcome feedback on the accessibility of our website. If you experience any difficulty accessing content, or if you have suggestions for how we can improve, please let us know.
You can report accessibility issues by:
- Using our contact form.
- Emailing us at hello@strasys.uk.
When reporting an issue, it is helpful if you can describe the problem you encountered, the page or content involved, and the browser and assistive technology you were using. We aim to respond to accessibility feedback within 5 working days.
5. Enforcement
If you are not satisfied with our response to an accessibility concern, you can contact the Equality Advisory Support Service (EASS) at equalityadvisoryservice.com.
The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) is responsible for enforcing the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) Accessibility Regulations 2018. While Strasys is a private sector organisation, we hold ourselves to the same standards expected of the public sector organisations we serve.
6. Technical information
The Strasys website is built using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript with the following accessibility-relevant technical choices:
- Semantic HTML5 elements (
main, nav, article, section, footer) for structural clarity. - ARIA landmarks and labels on navigation, interactive elements, and form controls.
- Focus-visible styles for keyboard navigation.
- Responsive design that adapts to different screen sizes and zoom levels up to 400%.
- No content that relies solely on colour to convey information.
7. Testing
We test the accessibility of our website using a combination of:
- Automated accessibility testing tools.
- Manual keyboard-only navigation testing.
- Screen reader testing with commonly used assistive technologies.
- Review against the WCAG 2.1 AA checklist during development of new pages and features.
