Sarah Tedford, Board Advisor at Strasys

Sarah Tedford

Board Advisor

About Sarah

There is no substitute for having run a hospital. Sarah Tedford has run two. Her career spans over 35 years in the NHS, from student nurse to Chief Executive, and she brings that complete operational perspective to her advisory work with Strasys.

Sarah began her healthcare career as a nurse at West Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust. She progressed through operational leadership roles including Chief Operating Officer at Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust and Deputy Chief Executive of Kingston Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. She was appointed Chief Executive of Manchester Royal Infirmary, Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust in 2018, and subsequently became Chief Executive of The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, overseeing one of the NHS's largest capital investment programmes.

She has sat in the chair, made the decision, and lived with the consequences. That experience is what she brings to every Strasys engagement.

Sarah also served on secondment to NHS England and NHS Improvement as Winter Director for London, providing assurance on systems and processes for monitoring delivery of the national A&E standard across the capital.

At Strasys, Sarah advises boards and executive teams drawing on her lived experience of leading complex NHS organisations through transformation, regulatory challenge, and system redesign. Her clinical background as a nurse gives her a unique understanding of frontline reality that most board advisors lack.
